A Taste of Paradise

This porcelain sculpture is a parody of the old story of temptation in the Garden of Eden, exploring the historical symbol of the apple as the fruit of knowledge. The main figure, placed in the centre under the tree, has bitten the apple and is now aware of her surroundings; she has the “knowledge”, which can also be viewed as a loss of innocence. A Taste of Paradise is a collaboration between Chris Antemann and the Meissen manufactory.

Chris Antemann was invited by Meissen to collaborate with the historic porcelain manufacturer and its master artisans on a series of limited-edition pieces, inspired by Meissen’s iconic tradition of intricately painted porcelain miniatures. The “Antemann Dreams Collection” depicts decadent and lustful scenes, sensuous fruits and suggestive figures.
