Ambrosia

The porcelain sculpture depicts a scene in a pleasure boat. The lovers balance precariously on the boards of the little boat as it dances on ornamental rococo waves. The title, Ambrosia, comes from a drink believed to have an aphrodisiac effect. The sculpture is a collaboration between Chris Antemann and the Meissen manufactory.

Chris Antemann was invited by Meissen to collaborate with the historic porcelain manufacturer and its master artisans on a series of limited-edition pieces, inspired by Meissen’s iconic tradition of intricately painted porcelain miniatures. Ambrosia is directly inspired by a vase and sauce boat from Meissen’s Swan Service.
