Chris Antemann

Chris Antemann is best known for her comical imitations of 18th-century porcelain figurines. She was born in the United States, where she also received her education and worked prior to her collaboration with Meissen. She was invited in 2010 by the CEO of Meissen to participate in the Meissen Art Campus, Art Studio Program. Chris worked with master artisans to create one of her largest and most complicated pieces to date. The work travelled around for years and was the beginning of a long collaboration with Meissen. Chris’s works are based on 18th-century figurines, using the style to explore and parody male and female relations. The figurines take on a story of their own and explore notions of domestic roles, social etiquette and social roles.
