Pucci de Rossi

Designer

Born in Verona, Pucci de Rossi (1947 - 2013) was an Italian artist, sculptor and designer, who lived and worked in Paris since 1979. Many of his designs and creations drew their inspiration from the notion of transforming everyday objects into gracious and original forms. His works often blur the lines between functional design and decorative art. He set up his first studio in his house and initially created pieces inspired by Art Nouveau. The work evolved to be increasingly sculptural. His move to Paris, coincidentally when the Memphis Group was making important gains in Italy, saw him leap into the world of postmodern design. Throughout his career, he continuously strove to distance himself from any one particular style and categorisation of his work, not shying away from the influence of many styles.
