The body of the Pok Butler is crafted from natural oak veneer to create a beautifully engineered piece of cabinetry built in Venice, Italy. The beadwork is done on nubuck leather panels that are hand-embellished with intricate and complex beaded patterns available in several designs and colours. The beaded panels are then upholstered onto the wood frame of the cabinet, and the Butler is finished with a pietra grey marble top.
The Pok collection celebrates the artistry of handcrafted beadwork made by Pokot women in north-west Kenya. Shiro Muchiri, the designer, combines their artistic cultural heritage with contemporary design. The grey colours of the sideboard reflect the semi-arid climate of the Pokot habitat and the complex and vibrant beadwork expresses the crafting abilities of the women.
