Mulberry Double Edge

This sphere, hand-turned from mulberry wood on a lathe, is part of Nicola Tessari’s Double Edge collection. The surface is created using the bugNature technique, inspired by the aesthetic of Italian rustication masonry techniques. BugNature aims to find a manner of accentuating the physical properties of the wood’s surface without altering them.

The idea of Double Edge has quickly coupled in Nicola’s work with very specific wood pieces, generally coming from a bifurcation (division into two branches) that provides a highly unpredictable opening shape, giving each piece a unique form.
