"Fauna Brasilis" Low Cabinet

"Fauna Brasilis" low cabinet, crafted from a combination of Limoges porcelain and chestnut wood, is part of Brasilis, a collection of furniture created in collaboration between Bernardaud and the Campana Brothers. The design for this piece in black and gold was inspired by Brazilian fauna – Fauna Brasilis. Combining the raw beauty of wood with that of porcelain, this piece can be used as a bar, a bookcase or even a cabinet of curiosities.

The "Fauna Brasilis" cabinet combines two very specific skills from the French Limousin region. The structure of the piece in chestnut wood was made by the Manufacture des Sièges d’Argentat, the chestnut strips were assembled one by one by Alain Dupasquier, carpenter and “feuillardier” (cabinetmaker specialising in chestnut wood), and the porcelain plaques were made in the workshops of the Bernardaud manufacture in Limoges. The 88 decorated porcelain plaques appear delicately set with chestnut strips, each one carefully adapted to the design of the furniture, making this cabinet a unique custom-made piece. As the name suggests, the decorations depict Brazilian fauna; the Campana Brothers wanted to represent endangered species of their native country.

La Maison Bernardaud, Limousin Porcelain manufacturer and the Brazilian brothers Humberto and Fernando Campana have collaborated since 2008 on the creation of lines of tableware and furnishing accessories including porcelain plates, candlesticks and bookends. Over the years, this creative collaboration, in an endless desire to push boundaries and renew creations, have expanded their collaboration to furniture. The collection of furniture Brasilis took three years to bring to life, from the first sketches to the final crafted product.
