Sculptural jewellery

  • • Rembrandt works with noble materials
  • • He seeks to make invisible spaces visible
  • • He embraces imperfections

After finishing his training at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, Rembrandt Jordan continued his studies at the Royal College of Art in London. During these years, masters such as Jean Lemmens, David Watkins and Michael Rowe trained him as a woodworker, musician, sculptor and silversmith. When he opened his gallery in 2006, he downsized the dimension of his creations into jewellery. “I consider myself as a sculptor who likes to play with duality, rhythm and scale. Miniature sculptures serve as jewellery, whilst large works lend a sense of rhythm to a wall. I’m fascinated by making the invisible space visible, and revealing the energy of spaces. Doing so, I create a new kind of space.”

Hidden Secret 3

This sculptural 18k gold ring seems to float on the wearer’s hand. The unique cut of this smoky quartz gemstone reveals a hidden secret and radiates a strong dynamic. An expressive character and pure, sculptural shapes give the jewellery from the Hidden Secret Collection a powerful but balanced appearance.

Look into my Eye

This 18k rose gold bracelet is the final piece from the Squares Collection. A sequence of 4 x 4 golden squares are connected and closed by its centrepiece, a handcut square shape in smoky quartz. This sculptural piece draws you in with its strong repetitive lines and leads your gaze towards the mysterious precious stone in the middle, looking back at you like an eye.

Rotar 6

Objects with a history have always fascinated Rembrandt Jordan. For many years, he has collected items accidentally found, like pieces of weather-worn glass or old glass stops. He likes to combine things that have a 'soul' with minimalistic expressive shapes, to form a new archetypical object, such as this sterling silver brooch, mounted with an antique glass stop.

Square 4 squared

This 18k yellow gold and patinated sterling silver brooch is a rhythmic composition of concave or convex square shapes. Rembrandt Jordan regards this jewellery collection as perfect miniatures, or small sculptures. This way, they become an autonomous work of art. Each object has its own background and interacts with the wearer. They become a real piece of jewellery once object and body form a unity, and emphasise the wearer's natural beauty and expression.
