Asserting space with enamelled copper

  • • Anne makes decorative pieces by putting a twist on the use of jewellery enamels
  • • Water is the common thread throughout her creations
  • • She likes to transmit her knowledge in workshops

Anne de la Forge’s work invites us to discover the magic of the art of enamelling. Through an intuitive dialogue she engages with fire, she vitrifies goldsmith's enamels onto copper. With successive firings, the refined crystal powder and the pure metal give rise to surprising reactions. "Just as the water colourist plays with pigmented water on paper, I play with fire on enamel and copper," she claims. Fascinated by the expression of matter unique to this craft, Anne draws on her background as an interior designer to explore its infinite possibilities. Although she started out by creating fine jewellery pieces, she has moved to experiment on larger scale items and specialises in the creation of wall pieces for interiors.

Materials to dream of

Made from goldsmith's enamels that have been vitrified on copper, this painting in warm colours invites us to “an imaginary journey into the heart of the material.” The surprising reactions of matter emerge from a delicate conversation with fire.

Motu One, Kokkini and Lady

These three pieces dominated by intense shades of blue are part of the ARCHIPEL mural composition. “Seen from the sky, this creation brings together fragmented spaces of freedom that can stretch to infinity: visual silences that invite to contemplation.” Anne de la Forge draws her inspiration from water, “to create with fire and tell the story of sensitivity.”

Turquoise wall panel

Part of the ÉCUME [S] collection, this turquoise wall panel is made of goldsmith's enamels that have been vitrified on copper. “The ocean speaks to us, whispers, roars. Guardian of ecosystems with complex mechanisms, essential to Life. Between light and shadow, the foam of words, and enamels... in balance.”

Belharra

This installation of vibrant blue shades is made up of 18 copper plates vitrified with goldsmith's enamels. The flexible attachments bring a kinetic dimension to the creation. The piece is modular and can be multiplied.
