The Mermaid

The decorative stacking puzzle figure of the Mermaid is part of a series that combines historical information, folk elements and Greek tradition with interactivity and modern design. The different coloured pieces – light and dark blue, yellow, brown and natural wood – highlight its archetypal characteristics. The Mermaid comprises nine different pieces, all handmade from beech wood and dyed with eco-friendly water-based paints.

A mermaid is described as a mythical creature of the sea in the form of a woman from the waist up and fish from the waist down. Mermaids are frequently represented in the mythology, literature and folklore of different cultures. In the most famous Greek legend, the mermaid is the sister of Alexander the Great.
