The Greek Lady

The decorative stacking puzzle figure of the Greek Lady is part of a series that combines historical information, folk elements and Greek tradition with interactivity and modern design. The different coloured pieces – red, black, brown and natural wood – highlight its archetypal characteristics. The Greek Lady comprises nine different pieces, all handmade from beech wood and dyed with eco-friendly water-based paints.

Until the early 20th century, national Greek clothing was worn throughout almost the whole country and islands, except for the large urban centres. Every place and every region has its own particular type of clothing, especially for women. Greek costume types are distinguished as lowland-agricultural, mountainous-shepherd, urban, and island.
