The surface of this porcelain sculpture is decorated with individually hand-carved porcelain sprigs. Each sprig is formed separately in a mould designed and made by Hitomi Hosono, then carved and finished by hand. Inspired by Nazuna leaves, native to Hitomi Hosono’s hometown in Japan, the delicate layering of the sprigs creates a sense of movement. The exterior of the piece, covered with these finely detailed porcelain leaves, contrasts perfectly with the gold-leaf interior.
