This intricate origami figure is hand-folded from Wenzhou rice paper using traditional Japanese origami paper folding techniques. Väinämöinen is part of Juho Könkkölä’s Finnish character series and was inspired by the Finnish national epic, Kalevala. The figure’s clothing and his musical instrument, a kantele, were particularly challenging to fold from a single sheet of paper.
