They create a world of sculpted paper and populate it with characters, objects, symbols and emotions. This is the world of Papier Atelier, a studio based in Istanbul, Turkey, and founded by husband and wife Türker and Deniz Akman. Their artistic view is to reflect the authenticity they are surrounded by with elements of modern art. The philosophy behind their works is based on hand crafting and slow living as they prefer to work with the simplest material of all: paper. The aim of Papier Atelier is to express organic forms, feelings and situations in simple defined geometries. They create installations, stop-motion videos, commercial prop designs and window displays using a low-poly 3D sculpting technique. Türker and Deniz Akman have collaborated with many well-known brands, such as Johnson & Johnson, Nike, and The Body Shop.
