Eugenio Michelini

Ceramicist

Eugenio Michelini was born and raised in the countryside of Bologna, Italy. He came into contact with clay at a very early age when playing in his parents’ vegetable garden. Clay, or rather mud, was the medium for building toys, to entertain himself and to depict what was around him. He observed the plants grow, bloom, produce fruits and decay, and reproduced them using the same mud from which they grew. The landscape of organic forms such as plants, flowers and vegetables became his favourite inspiration. Eugenio started working with clay at Santa Monica College, Los Angeles and received his BFA from California State University, Long Beach in 2016, followed by a master’s degree in Ceramics and Glass at the Royal College of Art, London in 2020. His work has been exhibited extensively in the US as well as in Italy, with a solo show at the prestigious Museo Internazionale della Ceramica e Design, Laveno-Mombello.
