The doors are crafted first in solid wood, followed by the internal structure in multilayered wood and the manual carving. Once the woodwork is completed, the external body of the object, including metal plates and conical tubed feet, is created using corten steel sheets and boxes. The steel is characterised by an external finish that comes from a process of pickling and oxidation of the metal surface, which is then protected with a transparent varnish. Once all the components are ready, the wooden and metal parts are assembled, and hardware such as hinges, pushes and steel cables are fitted.
The piece is inspired by typical Sardinian chests adorned with the decorative motifs of local tradition. BAM Design has reinterpreted the ancient flower motifs, transforming them into modern stylised graphics that are inserted into the cabinet’s clean and contemporary design forms.
