Signe Emdal

Signe Emdal is an experienced textile composer, living and working in Copenhagen. She studied knitted flexible material constructions at the Danish Designskolen Kolding and received her Master's in textile design in 2007. Signe creates site-specific pieces that breathe the spirit of a given location. Her work, inspired by her fascination with historical objects and master artisans of the past, is a mix of traditional craft techniques and contemporary concepts. Signe creates handmade textile compositions and tapestries using Fusion Techniques. She weaves a thread through a mix of carefully researched elements from different textile cultures and time periods, composing them into esoteric and innovative structures.
