Octopus is a wonderful example of kiri-e, the traditional Japanese art of paper cutting. The Octopus has been intricately cut out from paper with tremendous attention to the smallest of details. The silhouette of the octopus has been placed against a dark background, making all the details stand out. Negative spaces have been cut from a single sheet of A2 paper forming the image of an octopus that stands out from the deep black background on which Masayo Fukuda has placed it.
