Lightscape Collection, “Épure” series

The Épure service set is based on cunningly constructed paper models, which have been transformed into bisque porcelain down to the last detail. The outer parts have deliberately not been glazed, in order to replicate the texture and feel of paper as closely as possible. The subtle Épure decoration was inspired by Ruth Gurvich’s pencil markings and measurements on the original paper models and emphasises the handmade character of this collection.

The numbers and marks on the Épure series refer to the paper maquettes, the studies with which Ruth Gurvich works, and the shrinkage of the porcelain after the firing. From the beginning of the creation of the design, numbers and lines on porcelain were used to check the percentage shrinkage. They are in such a strong relationship with the conception of the Lightscape collection that they naturally became the Épure series.
