The container decorated using the maki-e lacquer technique features a design of gourds and gourd leaves. The lidded container was created for the 2014 Kōrin Art Exhibition at MOA Museum of Art to commemorate the tricentennial of the death of Ogata Kōrin (1658-1716). In addition to traditional maki-e, Kazumi Murose also uses mother-of-pearl inlay, thus introducing multicoloured nuances into the refined design.
