Born and raised in Italy, Eugenio Michelini came in contact with clay at a very early age when playing in his parents’ vegetable garden. “Clay – or rather mud – has been the medium to build my toys, to entertain myself and to reproduce what was around me.” The landscape and the territory around him – rich in organic forms such as plants, flowers and vegetables – became his favourite source of inspiration. In 2020, Eugenio obtained an MA in ceramic and glass from London’s Royal College of Art. Now it is the observation of nature and the dynamism and animation found in Mannerist and Baroque styles of decoration. “The serpentine gestures and shapes of its figures, almost artificial, are distorted with an incredible tension that engages the viewer. This theatricality triggers my curiosity and the desire to explore it through Parian clay.”

Dripping Beans
This cylinder vase was cast with Parian porcelain slip. The slip had been previously injected into the mould with blues, turquoise and orange dripping clays, satin with diamond pads, and eventually hand decorated with overglaze. It had three firings.

"Gocce di memoria" (or Drops of memories) is a conical cylinder vase cast with Parian porcelain slip. The slip had been previously injected into the mould with blues, and yellow dripping clays, satin with diamond pads and eventually hand decorated with overglaze. It has had three firings.

Forget-me-not
This cylinder vase is named after the Forget-me-not flower, "Non ti scordar di me", it is cast with Parian porcelain slip. The slip had been previously injected into the mould with blue stained clay in various decreasing tonalities and eventually hand decorated with underglaze pens. It has had two firings.

All the streets lead to Rome
This conical cylinder vase was cast with Parian porcelain slip, it's Italian name "Tutte le strade portano a Roma" translates as All the streets lead to Rome. The slip had been previously injected into the mould with red stained clay in various decreasing tonalities, and eventually hand decorated with underglaze pens. It has had two firings.
