Silver Sculptures and Candelabras

This collection of silver sculptures and candelabras are created using the ancient art of lost wax casting; the design of each object is painstakingly hand-carved into wax before being cast in Sterling Silver.

Casting begins by carving the piece in wax to produce a model. The model is encased in a mould of high-quality rubber, to retain the smallest details. The model is carefully cut from the mould and the mould’s cavity is slowly filled with molten wax. Once the wax has cooled and solidified, it is gently extracted from the rubber mould. The wax model is then meticulously cleaned and examined to ensure every detail has been captured. It is then encased in plaster, placed in a furnace and heated. As it melts the wax runs out through a tiny aperture, leaving behind a hollow form in the plaster. Molten silver is poured into the hollow. Once cooled the plaster mould is broken off, revealing the object within. The object is examined, cleaned and polished, and then hallmarked.
