Master at work: Decorating viola da gamba

Master luthier Shem Mackey will be working live in the Cenacolo room, demonstrating different techniques of period musical instrument decoration. Shem will create a fingerboard and tailpiece decoration in boxwood and walnut marquetry for a tenor viol. The master luthier will also demonstrate how to create an intricate geometrical inlay for the viola da gamba.
