Founded in 1906, Teracota Mediaș is the last manufacturer of hand painted stoves in Romania. For over a century, the manufacturer has produced the same painted tiles using old ovens, the original recipe for clay mixtures, glazing and hand painting techniques, passed down from one generation to another. Besides the restoration and production of traditional stoves, the manufacturer also creates mobile painted stoves with Reghin hardware and modern thermo-fireplaces. The modern projects can have either a traditional design or a contemporary look, obtained through a creative mix of terracotta, marble tiles, refractory glass and metal accessories.
The manufacturer currently produces over 300 models of tiles for terracotta stoves, be it simple or with different decorative patterns. The manufacturer is renowned for its permanent collaboration with graduate sculptors of the National University of Arts in Bucharest and tile painters, as well as for its partnerships with restorers, foundations and cultural institutions, such as the Astra Museum in Sibiu.
