Founded in 1935 by Pierre Frey at a time when France, having overcome the crisis of the Great Depression, was about to embrace culturally lively years, the Pierre Frey Maison creates and manufactures fabrics, wallpaper, custom made carpets and furniture. Since its founding it has been able to understand and anticipate the tastes of people. The Pierre Frey collections mix materials and patterns in bold and unique colours.
Pierre’s son Patrick Frey is now at the helm of the Maison. Their new collaboration with the Atelier Buffile reinterprets a design created by Jean Buffile in the 1950s. The ceramicist designed it to decorate dishes, it depicts in a very graphic and stylized way, a rider and his horse. The Maison reproduced it on a gigantic scale onto a reversible jacquard and wove it in three colours in the workshop in the north of France labeled Living Heritage Company.
