For the love of lacquer

Nathalie has always been fascinated by beauty. She began her craft activity by decorating porcelain. It was through porcelain that she began thinking of becoming a lacquerer. Besides, she always had in her mind and in her eyes the inros at the Guimet Museum in Paris, one of the largest collections abroad of Asian art, and the power those objects had to completely overwhelm her. During her training at the Adac workshops in Paris, she met the master lacquerer Isabelle Emmerique. That was the turning point in her life. It has been very hard, it took her a long time to learn, in terms of research and experimentation, and many mistakes. Nathalie has now been practicing lacquer for almost twenty years and still enjoys it.

A night walk in her garden and the celebration of the beauty of her Japanese maple tree served as a pretext to the creation of this series of precious cups, with a design evocative of a dreamlike state. The beech wood cups have been decorated with french lacquer as well as silver and gold leaf.

Automne
The ornate foliage that runs all around this bracelet contrasts with the lacquer material of the brown-black and red background very present in this piece. Bursts of green energize the composition. The bracelet is made from beech wood turned on a lathe and is intricately decorated using french lacquer techniques, gold leaf and bronze powder.

Landscapes, golden paths, these vases are painted with intricate patterns with the tip of a brush, engraved gold leaf, bronze powder, cache games, it is the lacquer material that dictates the composition. The intensity of quinacridone red, vermilion, cadmium orange and madder lacquers give presence to these ornamental pieces.
