In the early 20th century, Bohemian glassmaker Ludwig Moser was hailed as “Glass of Kings, King among Glass”. It is no suprise being a manufacturer which employed over 400 glass workers, with sales offices in the main capitals all around the world, and a supplier to many Royal Courts worldwide, including the Austrian Empire, the Persian Shah, the Vatican and the King of England. The credit for this international recognition goes to Moser, who founded the company in 1857 and changed the history of Bohemian Crystal.

In his early experiments, this young talented German artist discovered a new formula for crystal - lead-free but enriched with calcium and potassium - which makes it lighter, extraordinarily bright and more suitable for engravings and other workings. This innovation, along with Moser’s unique decorative style and enchanting creativity, are the reasons behind the brand’s deserved fame, and whole generations of glassmakers have built on the legacy left by Ludwig Moser and his sons in the Karlovy Vary workshops.
