It was 2015, and Michal Klaška had just been appointed to a lucrative position at an established Czech university. But Michal had an inner dilemma to solve, and before the contracts were signed, Michal gave up the job, determined to devote himself to craftsmanship. "Everyone thought I lost my mind. And I understood it. But my heart simply showed me the path, and I followed it." A year later, Michal's handmade pens were nominated as the best new product in the prestigious Designblok award. Soon after, his brand Kayu became a well-known design label with a patent for its innovative product. And Michal, who claims that his own handwriting is far from neat, seems to have only just started.

Kayu 130.2

Kayu 130.2 is a straight and smooth fountain pen of cylindrical shape. Despite being crafted entirely from metal, it is still very light, weighing just 23g. The pen is fitted with retractable nib fixed with a magnetic cap. This Kayu 130.2 is of natural titanium colour. The titanium design is patented.

Kayu 130.2 is a straight and smooth cylindrical fountain pen. Despite being entirely crafted from metal, the pen is very light, it weighs 23g. The pen is fitted with a retractable nib fixed with a magnetic cap. This Kayu 130.2 is crafted in a gold DLC coated titanium colour. The titanium design is patented.

Kayu Egino 2.0

The innovative construction from wood, brass and aluminium makes this Egino pen extremely light, functional and, thanks to the magnetic closure, very addictive. The pen weighs about 15g without the cap. The Kayu Egino 2.0 is crafted in a natural anodised aluminium colour with light yellowish-brown almond wood and is cylindrical with rounded ends. When open, the pen is smooth, which allows grip at any position.

Kayu Egino 2.0 straight

This improved and simplified version of Kayu Egino includes a titanium grip and cap with anti-roll surface and no clip. The pen, weighing around 17g without the cap, is functional and, thanks to the magnetic closure, very addictive. This Kayu Egino 2.0 is crafted from a natural anodised aluminium colour with purple to brown Virginian juniper wood of cylindrical shape. When open, the pen is smooth, which allows grip at any position.
