My dear father was the first person to introduce me to the zither. Though we came from a family of farmers, he too was passionate about the zither and he made one for me as a young child. After showing me the basics, I quickly learnt all about the instrument and have been playing it ever since.

Tóbiás Lajos was my most important teacher. He taught me the trade 22 years ago, and ever since then I have been making zithers by hand. My master no longer makes this string instrument, so I feel thankful for having learned all the trade secrets from him and being able to pass this onto others.

To be honest, I couldn’t tell you of which zither I am most proud. Truth be told I’d have to say that each zither I make contains a little piece of my soul.

I’d have to say the change in the use of materials has been the most important evolution in the design of the zither, which has helped to produce an instrument with a crisper sound. By doing so, the instrument has become much more versatile and drawn the attention of a growing number of musicians and bands.
