Four Crowns sculpture and design studio is primarily concerned with rethinking and recasting the tradition of scagliola, an ancient craft that was revived in Italy during the 17th century and quickly spread across Europe. The technique consists in manipulating plaster with natural pigments to obtain a decorated surface that is nearly impossible to distinguish from real marble. Shunning modern ephemerality and always striving for the inimitable, Four Crowns aims to produce visually accurate scagliola by incorporating unconventional and innovative techniques into a time-honoured tradition.

Four Crowns works with interior designers and private collectors from all over the world, who share a discerning eye for classical taste. Each studio offering strikes a balance between meticulous scholarship of the ancient world and a contemporary reimagining of its function. Not a historical re-enactment, therefore, but a tangible enrichment of the cultural grammar and traditions that have held true since the earliest phases of civilisation: the sharing of thought, the communication of ideas and the recognition of human impermanence.
