The first prototype for Lotos vase, designed by Filip Dobias, was made for the Chambre de Commerce Franco-Tchèque. This institution awarded the vase to their best entrepreneur in 2017. Its design was inspired by the shape of a lotus bud. It is a relatively large piece of glass, which makes it very difficult to make, both in the hot shop and when cutting it by hand.

The fourth dimension

With a glassworking tradition running through all their families, Filip Dobias, David Gabera and Jakub Petrthey, founders of Crystal Creative studio, all have glass in their blood. The shapes of their contemporary pieces don't flaunt luxury, yet there is something very noble hidden in the precisely elaborated curves and lines. Something that makes one want to touch the edges and observe the object from various angles, relishing the play of shades created by the shape. "It took me some time to realise the reason why glass was such a unique material. It's the light. Glass is the only material on the planet that can transmit, refract and intercept light. It has the fourth dimension," says one of the three artisans of the Crystal Creative studio, Filip Dobias.

Tornado
When designing this original set, Creative Crystal tried to combine functional design with a childlike playfulness. In the end, they came up with this authentic, unique whiskey glass made from hand blown and hand cut glass.

Volcano
This whiskey glass and decanter were inspired by Filip Dobias’ visit to Iceland in 2018. There, he found true wild nature among waterfalls, beautiful mountains, and majestic volcanos. He saw magma, which reminded him of molten glass in his workshop. These experiences became the foundation and inspiration for his 2018 collection.

Un-DEUX-TROIS
In 2013, Filip Dobias studied as an exchange student at the Institute of glass art in Toyama, Japan. During this period he visited many astonishing places all around Japan. He had a great opportunity to learn a lot from the best Japanese artists, architects, and artisans. Above all, he soon found himself in love with the ancient Japanese culture. In this collection, Filip Dobias wanted to explore its mysteries and honour the meticulous Japanese attention to detail and proportions.
