This piece, part of the Acqua Alta diptych, demonstrates volume embroidery at its finest. Each shell is made using different materials but all in shades of gold. The biggest shell sparkles with sequins and beads, decorated by metallic lace that imitates a natural defect that any shell may have. The middle-sized shell mimics perfectly the ribbed structure of the shell with the help of the purl wire.

This piece was inspired by Giovanna Garzoni’s painting. It showcases creating visual effects in embroidery. The two central artichokes on the beaded dish (one in natural green color, the other one in purplish-white) are made of silk elements, manually dyed and formed. They are framed by the long dry-yellow leaves. The driest one is made of flax and algae fibers. Wild strawberry is a detachable brooch. Berries are made of clay and hand-painted.

This embroidery is based on the illustration "Magnolia grandiflora" by the English artist Mary Delany. The piece is made with the Luneville hook. It depicts an open magnolia flower, with its off-white, pinkish and beige petals. Different textures of beads and sequins are combined here to create volume. Green sequined leaves cover the flower slightly.

This piece is a peony flower, its petals are colored in several shades of pink. The petals are mostly made of beads and sequins. The central part of the flower is made of feathers, it makes the flower look realistic, thanks to the lightness of its structure. The leaves made with mouliné thread and beads show experiments with light and shadows by using different green hues. This embroidery was inspired by the illustration by Pierre-Joseph Redoute.

The basic fabric – ikat – is a complex type of textile ideal for decorative purposes thanks to its texture that reminds of a cut tree. Two of the three persimmons are made of various-sized beads covered by threads interwoven in a grid, it looks like the beads are trapped inside. This creates an illusion of volume. The leaves are made of ribbons, beads, and hand-woven tweed (interlaced yarn of different densities and colors).
