When Egidio Fiorin founded ColophonArte in 1985, he was pursuing the dream of creating an artist's book in which he could combine his joint passion for poetry and art. His first major work featured four canti by the great Italian poet Giacomo Leopardi, and was illustrated with original engravings by Walter Valentini. Over the years, thanks to the artistic contribution of the most inspiring contemporary artists, Egidio's collaborations with prominent poets, intellectuals and musicians in Europe and beyond have resulted in an outstanding catalogue of publications: true works of art that have the power to stimulate all five senses.

ColophonArte editions are rigorously composed and printed by hand. They have a unique tactile quality because they are printed solely on paper made of cotton. Print runs are limited to no more than 90 copies, and each book is numbered with Roman or Arabic numerals. Egidio's artist books have been showcased in many exhibitions and museums worldwide, including the Poldi Pezzoli Museum in Milan, the MOMA in New York, and the Guggenheim Collection in Venice.
