The Grand Spine necklace combines sophistication and mysticism with inspirations from Eero’s childhood in the Finnish countryside in the 1970s. Each element was delicately handcrafted in silver and joined together to resemble an imaginary bone structure.

Aiming for the extraordinary

At the age of 16, Eero Hintsanen did some work experience in a goldsmith's studio, which proved to be a life changing event. Eero fell in love with the freedom and entrepreneurial lifestyle of craftsmanship, as well as the joy of handmade creation. He was accepted into the goldsmithing school in Lahti and chose to specialise in jewellery after seeing a 1986 exhibition by Björn Weckström, which made a lasting impression on him. Today, Eero’s toolkit includes techniques both old and new, simple and sophisticated. Most of his works are made traditionally, but he has nothing against mass production or computer aided methods. However, his most valuable assets are the shapes and forms he remembers from his childhood.

The Stinger series has a distant resemblance to tribal jewellery made of animal claws. Handcrafted in silver, its primal aesthetic aims to bring power, self-confidence and protection to its wearer. The specific forms of this collection are intuitively recognisable and act as a connector between past and present.

Stinger crown
The Stinger crown is an interpretation of the traditional thorn crown. From a distance, it has a classic appearance of branches with thorns, but on closer look it reveals different structures that are obviously manmade. A crown is an object that automatically denotes power and religion, but this piece aims to encourage viewers to have their own ideas on who would actually wear it.

Stinger necklace (black and gold edition)
The Stinger series has a distant resemblance to tribal jewellery made of animal claws. Handcrafted in silver, its primal aesthetic aims to bring power, self-confidence and protection to its wearer. This necklace combines oxidised silver with details in pure gold using a traditional Korean technique called keum-boo.
