This lampshade combines a familiar material with an unconventional technique. Small triangles of stained maple veneer are applied to a white cotton lining on a powder-coated steel frame to form the shade. It generates a warm light at night and becomes a three-dimensional sculptural object during the daytime.

Combining a familiar material with an unconventional technique, it generates a warm light at night, while the three-dimensional surface transforms it into a sculptural object in daylight.

With its three-dimensional surface and exceptional shape, the cabinet resembles a wooden crystal, somewhere between furniture and sculpture. The interior is lined with a light-sensitive padauk veneer whose luminous red colour will fade each time the door is opened. The piece is the result of a collaboration with Sebastian Neeb.
