Iocus Mundi is an armillary sphere made up of concentric circles in multiples of three. It is a model of the celestial sphere in which the graded metal rings surrounding it represent the poles, the equator, the ecliptic, meridians and parallels, with symbols of the planets and zodiac in inlaid brass.

Ginkgo biloba is the oldest living plant species on earth. Sacred to Buddhists and often used to protect the holy places of the East, it is a symbol of resistance, of the union of opposites. These characteristics and symbols inspired La Fucina di Efesto to craft this monumental sculpture, depicting the typical two-lobed ginkgo leaves.

Despina is part of a body of work, each piece unique and original, deriving from the aesthetic exploration of various metals and experimenting with processing techniques and colour combinations. Iron is a living material that protects itself from atmospheric agents by oxidizing and assuming dark, polychrome shades. “Opening the outer skin reveals the inner soul, a metaphor for a non-healing wound.”
