A few steps from St Mark’s square, an historic house museumLocated in the heart of Venice, a few steps from St Mark’s square, Palazzo Querini Stampalia is home of the Foundation created in 1868 and given to the city by Count Giovanni. This 16th century palace, partly restructured by famous architects Carlo Scarpa and Mario Botta, houses a library, spaces for temporary exhibitions and a museum that is a most remarkable example of an historic house museum. The residence of the Querini Stampalia family is recreated on the so-called piano nobile, where the traditional reception rooms and living quarters are, decorated with frescoes and stuccoes. Rare pieces of decorative arts, paintings and sculptures are displayed throughout the home. The art collections include Neo-Byzantine school panels, Renaissance paintings and masterpieces such as Giovanni Bellini's Presentation at the Temple, artworks by Sebastiano Ricci and Tiepolo, the renowned scenes of Venetian life by Pietro Longhi and also contemporary artworks.
