The Museum of the Tagliapietra Foundation displays a selection of pieces created by Lino (among them a small group realised in collaboration with famous designers and artists), from 1954 to nowadays, representing the masterly legacy of his supreme interpretation of the glass art. Participants will be guided by Silvano Tagliapietra, Lino’s son, in a journey through nearly seventy years of excellence in the Venetian art of glass, illustrating the evolution of his production through a tireless research: an array of complicate techniques, designs and colours that have deeply influenced generations of glass artists all over the world.
For your eyes Blown away Art & Design enthusiast Great for groups Venetian heritage
Journey of a lifetimeMaybe the most known Venetian glass blower and artist in the world, Lino Tagliapietra was born in 1934 in Murano, where the tradition of glassworking dates back to 1291. Precociously talented, he began to work as an apprentice at eleven and never stopped. Very curious and open-minded, at twenty-one he already was a “Maestro”. He worked for the most important glass factories and then on his own. An unstoppable experimenter, living in symbiosis with glass, he has had a crucial role in spreading the Venetian culture of glass in the world, namely in the USA, where he lives part of the year, also teaching and collaborating with artists and the scientists of the MIT. In his pieces, creativity, aesthetic qualities and prodigious technical skills are inseparable.
