Ricus Sebes’s story is the story of a perfect shift, driven by the urge to learn and the courage to fundamentally readjust the cornerstones of life. “When I was in my mid-thirties, I reached a point in my life at which I felt that I had to redefine the path for my future.” Inspired by the work of his wife, ceramicist Sonja Sebes, he left behind a career as a marine and salvage diver and started his apprenticeship as a ceramicist. After years of learning and refining, the newly chosen path manifested itself and with a move to Germany came new opportunities. His works, with their almost surreal crystal surfaces and raw bodies, have received wide recognition and numerous prizes.
