Pattern of Crafts

The glass panel features deep red shades that were created with a number of applications of pink, yellow and orange glass colours burnt in several flows. The artisans at edition van Treeck used a sandblasting technique that allowed them to simulate depth and create a “ball” behind the pattern, by blurring glass in very fine gradients. This design concept by Katja Zukić showcases the contemporary craft abilities of the studio van Treeck.

Exhibition curator Sebastian Herkner took the geometric pattern of the terrace of the Basilica of San Giorgio, on San Giorgio Maggiore island, and invited selected master artisans to interpret this lace-like octagonal pattern in a graphic artwork.
