Juan Pablo Martínez Muñoz was born in Úbeda, Spain. At the age of seven, he started working on the potter’s wheel following the family tradition. He has been greatly influenced by personalities in the world of pottery and culture, like Arcadio Blasco or the expert Emili Sempere. After high school, he transferred to Granada University, where he graduated in Fine Arts and specialised in Heritage Conservation and Restoration. He speaks at universities worldwide sharing his view about the role craft in general, and pottery, in particular, has on society. His pieces have been exhibited internationally, his jewellery paraded on catwalks and in 2013 he received the Spanish National Craftsmanship Award, a great distinction for a Spanish artisan recognising his efforts in modernising his profession.
