He is an accomplished urushi lacquerware craftsman, master of kyūshitsu lacquer application techniques, working mainly on magewa-zukuri (bentwood) crafts. Onishi undertakes the whole process of creation himself, from the selection and preparation of raw materials to the application of urushi and the finishing polish.
