Heiko Zebra Bronze bench
Bench legs, handcrafted from African zebrawood, support a hand-coated textured bronze seat. The bench is a part of the HeikŌ series. Heikō means "parallel" in Japanese and perfectly fits the bench design, which is based on clean, modern and elegant lines. Alexandre’s design was inspired by his travels in Japan, taking in the country’s traditional and modern architecture.

The process begins with a fine selection of raw wooden planks to ensure the durability, strength and quality of the final object. The parts that will be used are marked, then squared to the desired width, thickness and length to start the hand joinery work. Each joint is individually crafted and test-fitted for the perfect fit. After the joinery is done, the edges are shaped followed by hand assembly using strong wood glue and clamps; no screws or other metal fittings are used. The bench is sanded and protected with three coats of natural oil and waxes. To finish, liquid bronze with a viscosity that allows for the creation of a textured pattern is applied to the seat. The metal is gradually polished and then coated to protect it.
Through the HeikŌ collection, Alexandre wanted to create a simple, timeless, durable bench with visible hand-cut joinery pieces whose experimental techniques and immaculate finishes bring out the quintessence of design that lasts. Connecting traditional craftsmanship to technology, every finished piece of furniture is signed with a distinctive NFC chip under the logo that guarantees authenticity and gives its owner access to a full and detailed history of the piece, such as the type and origin of the wood, techniques used, care guide and other relevant details.
