Grégoire Scalabre created this cast porcelain sculpture while undertaking his artistic residency in the Manufacture de Sèvres. The piece is a part of the Haussmann series, created after the French official Baron Haussmann, who served under Napoleon III and carried out the extensive urban renewal project of Paris. The long, flowing lines and large curves follow the principles of stucco moulding central to Haussmann’s work.
