The Civil Wars Knee Play Puppet was originally designed by Robert Wilson for Wilson’s monumental yet never fully realized production The Civil Wars: A Tree Is Best Measured When It Is Down which was to be presented in full at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles California. The puppet on view here is the original stage property of the Japan section of the production.
