Tessitura De Martini is a weaving atelier with over 500 years of experience in weaving luxurious fabrics such as damask, lampas, brocades, Chiavari’s macramé and cashmere. Founded in the 16th century, the atelier is run and managed today by Stefania de Martini, who is strongly motivated to carry on and develop the family business. The small village of Lorsica has a very strong tradition in the production of damask, but nowadays Tessitura De Martini remains the last manufacturing group that carries on this craft, which is still practiced with ancient techniques.
In 1945, Nicola de Martini, Stefania’s father, designed, built and patented a loom that reproduces the same fabrics that, centuries ago, were made by hand by skilled craftsmen. "My work is never monotonous, there’s something going on all the time," Stefania says. Her goal for the future is "to train artisans even outside the family, with the aim of carrying on together this tradition and reinterpret it in a contemporary way."
