Venetian glassmaker Barovier & Toso is well known for creating lighting for prestigious residences and palaces worldwide, admired for their dazzling style and sophisticated craftsmanship. The roots of this excellence lie in their unparalleled heritage: the first Barovier mentioned as glass master on Murano island dates back to an age when glass blowing itself was considered an ‘emerging art’. No surprise, as it was 1295! Since then, several members of the Barovier family have chaired the glassmakers guild of Murano, intertwining the history of their family with the history of this craft.
The most famous family member is Angelo Barovier, a true Italian Renaissance man, who back in the 1400s invented the exceptionally pure ‘cristallino glass’ and created pieces which are still regarded by many as the greatest glass masterpieces ever crafted. More than 20 generations later, the company has accumulated a wealth of knowledge and taste that they safeguard and express through all their artistic glass creations.
