A life-changing decision to study textile design at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London marked Juliana Hurtado’s path as an artisan. With this experience, she was able to connect design and finesse acquired in London to the traditional craft with which she had grown up in Colombia. In 2002, she returned to her native Colombia and developed a keen sense for home aesthetics as an interior designer. By 2013 Juliana had opened her own atelier in Bogotá to translate this skill into emotionally meaningful handmade textiles.
Mrs. Lovegood carries in its name the act of nurturing and holding a safe space for others. It redefines home space rituals through natural fibres and diverse craft techniques. Though the atelier specialises in horizontal loom woven products, its uniqueness lies in the variety of techniques mastered by its artisans. They embroider, cross stitch, knit, crochet, sew, illustrate, hand block and screen print, giving Mrs. Lovegood’s products quality, versatility, and grace.
