Hechizoo tapestries and textiles are a mesmerising myriad of textures and colour hues that transform as light touches their surface. Copper, bronze, pewter, and silver threads intertwine with natural fibres such as cumare, fique and yaré in the vertical and horizontal looms that artisans masterfully weave at Jorge Lizarazo’s atelier. It is a community of 80 artisans and designers who dare to create the unimaginable.
With an initial portfolio in upholstery, Hechizoo opened in 2000, collecting one of the most complete fibre catalogues in Colombia, thanks to Jorge’s ceaseless exploration to innovate in the world of contemporary luxury craftmanship. His early years as an architect in the studios of Santiago Calatrava and Massimiliano Fuksas gave him a taste for versatility and combinations of methods and materials. Twinned with subtle architectural details, Hechizoo tapestries, meshes, window screens and other sculptural artwork inspired by indigenous geometric patterns exquisitely transform interior spaces.
