Senā Klēts (Old Granary) was founded in 1991 with an aim to identify the rich Latvian cultural heritage, and research Latvian national costumes, including ethnographic gloves. In ancient Latvian households, the granary was the place where people stored family valuables and savings. So does Senā Klēts by preserving the rich history of national costumes and the skills of the craftsmen who create them. Every item there is handmade, produced from authentic samples from different Latvian regions. It is also the largest Latvian national costume exhibition in the world, created under the guidance of ethnographer Maruta Grasmane.
